Tank: Security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on a military fort in the Jandola area of Tank district, killing 10 militants, according to security sources.
According to reports, the attack resembled the recent Bannu-style assault. A suicide bomber detonated near the fort, but security personnel responded swiftly, neutralizing the threat.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their bravery in foiling the attack, stating, “Our courageous forces have eliminated 10 foreign terrorists. The entire nation is proud of their professionalism and dedication.”
Pakistan has witnessed a significant rise in terrorist activities in recent years. Just two days ago, on March 11, militants attacked the Jaffer Express train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar. Armed assailants fired rockets at the train’s engine and opened fire, injuring the driver and halting the train.
A fierce gun battle ensued between security forces and militants, leading to a two-day-long operation. On March 12, DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that all 33 terrorists involved were eliminated, and the hostages were safely rescued. However, before the operation began, the terrorists had tragically killed 21 civilians.
